Matcha Bae is redefining the matcha drinking experience. We are introducing a modern perspective to the ancient tradition of the Japanese tea ceremony by preparing matcha in a way that is more suitable to our fast paced lives while maintaining all the ancient benefits.
Having a strong ethos towards sustainability and health, Matcha Bae ensures the journey of our matcha from crop to your cup is quality - centric while giving back to the community sustainably.
Since our founders lived in japan for over 4 years and did traditional tea ceremony (Sadou-*da) training professionally, they made sure our matcha is of the highest quality and standards ensuring both nutrition and taste.
We aim to spread the knowledge of matcha, it's health benefits while spreading the enjoyment from the umami taste of this organic, premium ceremonial grade delicate yet impactful drink. Our matcha is grown in the world-famous region of Uji, in Kyoto prefecture, Japan, and we take immense pride to be able to share a piece of Japan with the world.
HOW DO WE ENSURE NUTRIENT RETENTION?
Our artisan tea masters with decades of experience in tea making follow a rigorous and intricate process to grow and harvest our matcha.
To ensure its perfect delicate Umami flavour, our matcha is straw shaded for 10-20 days depending on the weather. During the last few days of the harvest it is rigorously monitored to ensure that the shading is even and controlled.
Steamed & Dried
We steam and dry our matcha within 24 hours of harvesting to ensure an oxidation halt for best quality of nutrition. Thls takes very experienced tea farmers to decide the right steam temperature and duration as every batch is different.
Granite Stone Ground
Following the 800 year old tradition our matcha is ground using granite stone grinders . It is a very slow process and takes serious temperature control of under 45 Celcius.
HOW OUR MATCHA IS GROWN?
Our matcha is grown in the cleanest and the purest areas of Japan ensuring freshness, nutrition and unmatched flavour.
Micro Climate Harvest
Our tea farms are located in Uji, 70 kms inwards to hilly regions making the micro climate ideal in both summers and winters. Since our tea is grown in hilly terrains near rivers the humidity balance, prevalent mist in all seasons and presence of fogs makes it ideal for the best harvest of matcha.
Hilly Terrain Landscape
Grown on smooth slopes and hilly terrains unlike normal tea in other parts of Japan which are grown on flat land.
Optimal Soil Density
Quality of soil directly impacts the taste, colour and characteristic of the matcha harvest. Hence, highly acidic soil that is rich in micro nutrients which is managed using organic farming practices ensures our matcha to have standard taste and quality year round.
